MechSE Mosaic

MechSE Mosaic is a daylong program geared towards admitted women and other underrepresented groups in MechSE. Come enjoy lunch and meet current students, faculty, and staff to learn more about mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics. The day will include a brief presentation from the MechSE Undergraduate Programs Office, discussions with current students, a building tour, and faculty Q&A panel. Can't join in person?  No problem, register for our virtual version.

Virtual Visits

Congratulations on your admission to MechSE at the University of Illinois!  As a newly admitted student, you're invited to attend an exclusive webinar where we will discuss our Engineering Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering curricula and extracurricular opportunities.  We will have a student panel Q&A for the last 20-30 minutes of the session, so come prepared with questions about student life, campus, and our programs!

Thursdays: February 22, March 21, April 11, or April 25
Each webinar is 6:30-7:30 pm CT.

Student Introduction to Engineering (SITE)

(SITE)  is a three-day, overnight, interactive and informational program for students admitted to the Grainger College of Engineering. During this event, students will stay overnight in the Illini Union Hotel and be introduced to the University of Illinois through presentations, design competitions, panels, tours, and more! This is a unique opportunity to explore and experience life as an engineering student here in Urbana-Champaign. We promise no sugarcoating and no sales pitch. From day one, we show you everything Illinois has to offer -- for your education, social circles, and personal growth. Be curious with us and we will be candid with you.  Visit our website for full event details. This event includes a $50 cost per admitted student.  A shared hotel room with one other admitted student and meals will be provided.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) "Little Sisters Weekend"

"Little Sisters Weekend" is an overnight campus visit program for admitted high school girls in engineering. "Little Sisters" will be paired up with current undergraduate women in engineering ("Big Sisters") for the opportunity to have a first-hand experience of student life on campus. This is a free university and corporate-sponsored event. Meals will be provided and little sisters will sleepover in a hotel. Activities include campus tours, talks with a representative from Caterpillar, meet other organizations on campus, and meet SWEsters! (Society of Women in Engineering (SWE) members).

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Admitted Student High School Visitation

This event with the UIUC Chapter of SHPE is for Hispanic and Latinx admitted students. Spend the weekend on campus and learn more about SHPE, UIUC, and what being a college student is all about!  Includes info sessions, tours, workshops, community building activities, and meet & greets with various campus organizations and staff.
