The Ford Concurrent Design and Manufacturing Laboratory, also known as the Rapid Prototyping Lab, provides undergraduate and graduate students access to some of the most up-to-date manufacturing technologies currently in use, which are rarely found in an academic laboratory.
The Micro-Nano-Mechanical Systems Cleanroom Laboratory provides an opportunity for research and discovery that is otherwise unattainable in a typical lab setting. The Cleanroom is a 3800 sq. ft suite of labs and related support rooms, including two cleanroom laboratories for research in the design and fabrication of small-scale mechanical systems. The lab supports research and instruction in the general area of micro- and nano-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS & NEMS), and nano-chemical-electrical-mechanical-manufacturing systems (Nano-CEMMS). The current focus is on devices employing nano-to-microscale mechanisms and the integration of these mechanisms into meso-scale devices.
The MNMS laboratory has class 100 and 10 cleanrooms for the microfabrication, inspection, and testing of devices.

The MechSE Innovation Studio is an ideal area for both undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on experience. The studio aims to provide modern fabrication techniques and services to the MechSE Department. Located at 0100 Sidney Lu Mechanical Engineering Building, the operation represents a large portion of the MechSE MakerWorks laboratory complex in the Lu MEB.
