The department’s bachelor’s degree programs ranked #9, with The Grainger College of Engineering ranking #5 in undergraduate programs overall.   

MechSE’s engineering mechanics curriculum encompasses the essential aspects of modern engineering through in-depth courses in math, the basic sciences, and engineering topics such as statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials, solid mechanics, and fluid mechanics. Initially a graduate degree program, EM evolved into an undergraduate program, offering a modern approach that integrates advanced math, experimentation, design, and computation to tackle mechanics problems—equipping students with the analytical skills to lead in emerging technologies and sectors such as Industry 4.0, renewable energy, biotechnology, metamaterials, and more.

Mechanical engineering is one of the most established and diverse of all the engineering fields and MechSE’s curriculum applies engineering, math, and science principles to teach students how to design, control, and improve mechanical systems and processes.
