Illini Motorsports #1 Formula SAE team in North America

This month, UIUC’s Formula SAE team, Illini Motorsports, excelled yet again at the premier North America Formula SAE competition. With a highly competitive field of 120 collegiate teams from the U.S., Canada and Central America, they again achieved first place, with a point lead that dominated the rest of the pack. They boasted a 75-point lead over the 2^nd place finisher.

The win comes on the heels of news of a 3^rd place world ranking. Over the last several years Illini Motorsports – made up overwhelmingly of MechSE students – has steadily established itself as the top team in the country and clearly one of the best in the world. In 2022 they were named national champions, with a nearly clean sweep of 1^st place trophies in its 44-year history.
