Huseyin SehitogluProfessor Huseyin Sehitoglu has won the College Award for Excellence in Faculty Mentoring from The Grainger College of Engineering, marking the second time in just seven award years that a MechSE professor has received the honor.

The honor, which is given by the Office of the Provost, recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to faculty mentoring by actively assisting pre-tenure and mid-career faculty in developing their careers. Exceptional mentoring can include offering advice, feedback and guidance on research activities, coaching on work-life balance issues, providing professional opportunities for mentees, and/or assisting in development of teaching skills.

Sehitoglu’s nomination focused on his history of mentoring both MechSE and MatSE faculty, by building trust and nurturing his mentees’ self-esteem, advising on successful teaching, aiding in the pursuit of grants, and supporting them during the promotion and tenure process.

Sehitoglu, who holds the John, Alice and Sarah Nyquist Chair in MechSE, was honored April 24 at the Grainger College of Engineering Faculty Awards Ceremony.
