Ukraine braced for reprisals after an explosion Saturday crippled Russia’s sole bridge to Crimea. Nick Glumac, Shao Lee Soo Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at Illinois, said the ignition of train cars passing by when the bomb went off testified to its strength. But in the end, the structure was still standing. “Bridges are very tough targets to bring down,” Glumac said.
