Levenda to lead new sustainability center at Evergreen State College

Alumnus, Prof. Anthony Levenda, has been named Director of the Center of Climate Action and Sustainability at The Evergreen State College.

Anthony LevendaMechSE alumnus Dr. Anthony Levenda (BSME ’09) has been named the new Director of the Center of Climate Action and Sustainability at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.

Levenda, who also earned an MS in environmental engineering from UIUC in 2010, is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Oklahoma. He has a PhD in Urban Studies and Planning from Portland State University with a Graduate Certificate in Energy Policy and Management.

Beginning September 1, 2021, Levenda will help get the new Center for Climate Action and Sustainability started on its critical work helping students gain the skills they need to be climate leaders of the future.

The center, set to launch this fall, will offer hands-on learning opportunities such as internships and undergraduate research and was made possible through a generous donation from Evergreen alumni, Christy Holz and Tim Ball.
