Sofronis Selected to Receive Graduate-Level Teaching Award

Peter SofronisPetros Sofronis, professor and associate head for engineering mechanics programs at MechSE, was selected to receive the University of Illinois' Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching. The award recognizes sustained excellence, positive impacts on learning, innovative approaches and other contributions to improve graduate or professional instruction.

Petros Sofronis, professor and associate head for engineering mechanics programs at MechSE, was selected to receive the University of Illinois' Campus Award for Excellence in Graduate and Professional Teaching. The award recognizes sustained excellence, positive impacts on learning, innovative approaches and other contributions to improve graduate or professional instruction.

Since joining the faculty in 1991, Sofrinis has graduated more than 18 graduate students and three master's students and taught virtually every solid mechanics course the department offers. His name has appeared on the list of teachers ranked as excellent by their students nearly every semester.
