MechSE research professor Predrag S. Hrnjak has been elected Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in recognition of his leadership, innovation, and the significant impact he has made on society's mobility technology.
SAE is a global body of scientists, engineers, and practitioners whose work applies to aerospace, automotive, or commercial vehicle research. Election to SAE Fellow is a professional distinction granted to approximately 20 recipients a year. It is the highest grade of membership in the society, and recognizes and honors long-term members. Hrnjak has been a member since 2002.
Hrnjak is a research professor of Mechanical Engineering, as well as the co-director of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center. Before coming to the university in 1993, he was an associate professor at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. It was from the University of Belgrade that he received his Dipl. Ing. (1976), master’s (1984), and D. Sci (1992) in Mechanical Engineering.
His research is in heat transfer and energy systems. In addition to the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Center, he is also a director for the Air Conditioning Systems Lab, the Mobile Air Conditioning Lab, and the Pulse Modulation Control Lab.
Hrnjak is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is also an ASHRAE Fellow.
