ExxonMobil representatives Darnell Smith (BSECE '02) and Amber Massingill (BSChemE '02) today pledged $14,000 in unrestricted support for the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at Illinois. They met with MechSE staff, as well as students Taylor Oltman and Mike Bastanipour, at Engineering Hall to communicate the donation news.
"I think that Darnell and Amber greatly appreciated hearing from Taylor and Mike," said Bob Coverdill, MechSE's Director of Advancement.
The giant energy corporation, which alternates between the top and second spot on the Fortune 500 list, is a top employer of MechSE graduates. Smith and Massingill provided updates on new employees Stuart Herndon, Christine Littrell, and Madison Whitt (all BSME '13), who they said will all be working in or around Houston within the next few weeks.
