Elsevier has announced its Carbon Journal Prizes for 2020. Recent graduate Dr. Juyoung Leem (PhDME ’20) won second place in the competition for her thesis, “Mechanical self-assembly of deformed 2D materials for advanced functionalities.”
Elsevier is a global information analytics business specializing in science and health. This annual award aims to recognize recent graduates with "an outstanding Ph.D. thesis in carbon material science and technology”.
While at Illinois, Leem was in the research group of MechSE associate professor SungWoo Nam.
