Assistant Professor Gaurav Bahl was recently named a Senior Member of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
The organization is the world’s largest technical professional society and serves professionals involved in all aspects of the electrical, electronic, and computing fields and related areas of science and technology.
Bahl has been a member of IEEE since 2009. IEEE Senior Members are eligible to hold executive IEEE volunteer positions; can serve as a reference for other applicants for Senior Membership; and are invited to participate on the panel to review Senior Member applications.
Bahl joined the MechSE department in 2012 after a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan. His research group performs experimental research at the interface between optical and mechanical systems. Of particular interest are the mechanisms by which light interacts mechanically with photonic microdevices, and how mechanical devices can affect and manipulate light.
He earned a PhD in 2010 and an MS in 2008, both in electrical engineering, from Stanford University. He received a BS in electrical engineering in 2005 from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
