The award is given biennially by ASME’s Dynamic Systems and Control Division for excellent long-standing contributions or for a major, singular contribution to education in areas of interest to the DSCD. Alleyne won for “outstanding teaching, mentoring, and sustained efforts in control curriculum implementation.”
Alleyne is the Ralph and Catherine Fisher Professor in MechSE. He is also the principal investigator of the $18.5 million NSF Engineering Research Center for Power Optimization of Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS), which is tackling the thermal and electrical challenges surrounding mobile electronics and vehicle design as a single system.
He earned his MS and PhD degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1992 and 1994, and joined MechSE as an assistant professor in August 1994.
