U.S. News and World Report has ranked the University of Illinois as the #8 best undergraduate program in mechanical engineering. MechSE’s bachelor’s degree program consistently ranks in the top ten in the country.
The Grainger College of Engineering ranks #6 overall and boasts 10 undergraduate programs ranked in the Top 10.
MechSE’s other rankings include a #6 graduate program in mechanical engineering and a #3 online graduate degree in mechanical engineering. In addition to offering BS, MS, PhD, and M.Eng. (Master of Engineering) degrees in mechanical engineering, the department also has a strong undergraduate degree in engineering mechanics and MS/PhD degrees in theoretical and applied mechanics.
Mechanical engineering is one of the most established and diverse of all the engineering fields and MechSE’s curriculum applies engineering, math, and science principles to teach students how to design, control, and improve mechanical systems and processes.
