Vish GanesanMechSE’s Vishwanath Ganesan has been selected as one of the Engineering Council Outstanding Advisors for the 2025-26 academic year. Recognized as the top 10% of engineering advisors identified by their students, these Grainger Engineering faculty and staff exemplify excellence and dedication in support of students’ efforts.

Ganesan is currently a postdoctoral research associate in Founder Professor Nenad Miljkovic’s Energy Transport Research Laboratory (ETRL), working on high-fidelity experiments and computations of transient two-phase flow for understanding cryogenic propellant tank transfer and on holistic rack-to-processor power and thermal co-design for future servers.

He earned his MS and PhD in mechanical engineering from Purdue University, working in Professor Issam Mudawar’s Boiling and Two-Phase Flow Laboratory. At Purdue, he also held joint appointments with NASA-GRC as a visiting researcher and with the School of Mechanical Engineering as a Ward A. Lambert Graduate Teaching Fellow. Prior to joining Purdue, he worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

In 2025, Ganesan was the faculty advisor to a team of Grainger Engineering undergraduates who won the Best Technical Presentation Award in the finals of the NASA Human Lander Challenge.
