Professor Huseyin Sehitoglu recently launched a new journal, Shape Memory and Superelasticity. The journal will focus exclusively on shape memory alloys and the fundamental developments, innovative manufacturing, and novel use of these materials, with a goal of advancing new concepts, new experiments, and new theories in the field of shape memory phenomena. Of particular interest is the response of these materials to external stimuli such as force, displacement, temperature, magnetic fields, irradiation, and corrosive media while hopefully uncovering new phenomenon, new materials, and new applications.

The new publication will launch with two special inaugural issues in 2015, under ASM International and the International Organization on Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies. Volume 1 of the journal was published in March.

Sehitoglu, who is also the editor-in-chief of Shape Memory and Superelasticity, is the Nyquist Chair in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering. His research focuses on thermo-mechanical behavior of materials, along with phase transformations and shape memory.
