Amanda Steelman graduated from MechSE in 2015 with a mechanical engineering degree. She now works in the drilling department for ExxonMobil in Houston, Texas, as an engineer for the Gulf of Mexico team, which focuses on offshore deepwater projects in the Gulf.

Gah, how can this be a year ago already?! Seniors, make sure you get in line early to get a picture with Alma.It’s the final stretch! My newsfeed tells me that the next round of MechSE seniors have officially survived senior design. On that note, CONGRATULATIONS! It’s hard to believe that I was giving my presentation a year ago already.

The view from my office when I'm out on the rig.I apologize for dropping off of the face of the earth there for a while; I haven’t been doing a very good job keeping this up. Once I started my rotation in October, my life has pretty much been a whirlwind. I haven’t been back at my apartment in Houston for longer than a week and a half at a time since I first went offshore in October.

- I survived my first week of work!
After my first blog post, the rest of the summer went by pretty quickly. I wasn’t as adventurous as some of my classmates. I stayed U.S. bound for my final summer of freedom. After my move-in week in Houston, I headed north to Dallas for the rest of summer.

- I guess I had too much fun blogging about my study abroad experiences in Sweden, so I’m back. Except now, instead of “Follow Amanda’s Swedish Adventures!” it’s probably going to be more like “Watch Amanda Attempt to Figure Out Life After College!”
