Research Goal
The objective of this research is to expand on the Biological Intelligent Processor (described below) to be able to sense the presence of attomolar concentrations of all the serotypes of C. botulinum toxins. The nanofluidic device is based on the molecular gate, in which multiple types of gates will be developed and integrated with electronics and optical systems. The device and approach proposed are capable of incorporating advances in biomolecular tagging and recognizing a multiplicity of compounds, making on-chip analysis of the wide range of biological warfare agents a practical reality.
