Professor Emeritus C. Dale Greffe passed away on May 31 in Champaign, IL. He was 97.

Greffe's affiliation with the University of Illinois began in 1928, when he enrolled as a freshman in mechanical engineering. The Depression delayed his studies until 1937, and Greffe earned his degree in 1940. He taught at the University of Louisville for two years before returning to Illinois as an instructor in machine design. He spent the next 33 years teaching courses in machine and power plant design.

Greffe was active in the Champaign Lions Club, and enjoyed photography, painting and writing poetry.
