Each year, the MechSE department recognizes the outstanding achievements of its junior faculty. This year’s celebration lunch today honored an impressive number of young investigator grant recipients:
 
Gaurav Bahl - Office of Naval Research (ONR) Director of Research Early Career Grant
Randy Ewoldt - Presidential Early Career Award for Science and Engineering (PECASE)
Shelby Hutchens - NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award
Yuhang Hu - Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Young Investigator Research Program Award
Nenad Miljkovic - Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Award; NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award
SungWoo Nam - Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Award; NASA Early Career Faculty Award 
Kelly Stephani - Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Young Investigator Research Program Award
 
College of Engineering Dean Andreas Cangellaris was on hand to offer his appreciation. “In academia, we do a great job of celebrating our people, so I’m very happy to be here. MechSE knows how to do the three Rs: recruitment, retention, and recognition. Everything we do has to do with those three, so congratulations to all our young faculty.”
