King Joins MechSE

William KingDr. William King, formerly an assistant professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has joined MechSE as an associate professor. His research interests include micro-and nanoscale heat transfer and thermal processing, atomic force microscopy, microelectromechanical systems, micro- and nanofabrication and self-assembly.

Dr. William King, formerly an assistant professor in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has joined MechSE as an associate professor. His research interests include micro-and nanoscale heat transfer and thermal processing, atomic force microscopy, microelectromechanical systems, micro- and nanofabrication and self-assembly. He completed his bachelor's degree in 1996 at the University of Dayton, his master's degree in 1998 and his PhD in 2002, both at Stanford University. Prior to joining Georgia Tech, King was a research associate at Stanford and a research staff member at IBM Zurich Research Laboratory.

He was recently named to the TR35, theTechnology Review list of 35 top young innovators under the age of 35. King was cited for his development of a nanoscale soldering iron that can be used to make such things as electronic circuits and tissue-engineering scaffolds.
