W. Grafton and Lillian B. Wilkins Professor Naira Hovakimyan was featured Wednesday on CNBC's Nightly Business Report. The segment focused on the use of new technologies to benefit seniors and an aging population, which is expected to grow 50 percent over the next 15 years.

Hovakimyan and her research group are developing autonomous drones that can perform simple but useful household tasks. She spoke about her work at the Aging 2.0 conference this week in San Francisco.

"We could have a slightly bigger drone that could go grab a glass of water, or reach under the table to grab a fallen object, or clean your chandelier or get something from the second floor [of your home], and other simple tasks," she said.

See the entire segment here, which starts at 22:30. Hovakimyan appears around the 24:58 mark.
