Formula SAE team members take a pit stop.

University of Illinois Formula SAE team members are celebrating a job well done after taking third place in the inaugural SAE VIR event. Fifty-three teams competed at the event, which took place April 23-26at the Virginia International Raceway. The team placed in the top 10 in every competition category, including third-place finishes in endurance, autocross and acceleration competitions, and a first-place finish in the Buehler "Innovation in Mechatronics" competition for the most innovative use of a fractional horsepower electric motor.

The team is now looking forward to the Formula SAE competition at Michigan International Speedway on May 14-18.
