Rheology (funny fluids!)

Assistant Professor Randy Ewoldt worked with participants to investigate some of the unusual properties of non-Newtonian fluids, or funny fluids. These fluids can have very bizarre behaviors, such as acting like a solid sometimes and a fluid at other times. The participants used their new knowledge to design and test a material they made that has potential in sporting equipment. One student said, “playing with liquids that act weird was really great. I had no idea that real engineers work with things that are so fun!”
