Cleanroom

Participants worked in the cleanroom to pattern wafers with photoresist, using many techniques and machines that most graduate students haven’t been exposed to. They learned about this important technique used in nano-manufacturing and in the silicon chip business. They got to take their wafers home as a souvenir of their experience. The participants really enjoyed this activity. One said “taking an air shower was cool, but then it got even better when we went into the cleanroom and actually got to make our own wafer! I’ll never forget wearing the cleanroom suit like they do in the Intel commercial.”
