Research Description
Professor Ostoja-Starzewski's expertise is mechanics of random media and thermomechanics. He has also made original contributions to micropolar elasticity, waves in random media, materials (composite, paper, bone, brain, granular, polycrystals, porous media and helices) and mechanics in geophysics and archaeology, including mechanics of ice fields, atmospheric flows and pollution, cavitation, and wear of ancient tools. His work melds basic physics concepts with mathematical modeling.
