Research Description
Professor Pantano's research on turbulent reacting flows investigates how turbulence and combustion are modified through their interaction. He did one of the first three-dimensional simulations of turbulent flows with complicated chemistry, that is, flows having radicals and multiple species, and he measured the behavior of the flame within the turbulent flow.
